The Incredible Hulk was subdued on Sunday by LA police officers... Just Kidding. But that's what it seemed like when a call of a disturbance brought police to ex-football player James Hardy III's downtown LA neighborhood. When he resisted arrest, injuring at least two cops in the attack, Hardy was stunned by a Taser.
According to gossip site TMZ, police responded to a call of a disturbance:
"Law enforcement sources tell us ... cops were called to an apartment complex in downtown L.A. around 4:30 PM ... and when they arrived to the scene Hardy refused to cooperate.
We're told Hardy -- a wide receiver who played for the Bills and the Ravens -- got aggressive and attacked the officers. We're told he injured at least three cops.
Eventually, officers used a TASER in an effort to subdue Hardy ... but it didn't have the desired effect.
Several officers ultimately were able to take Hardy into custody and he was arrested for felony obstruction of justice. Hardy was later transported to a hospital.
Law enforcement sources tell us ... officers believe Hardy may have been under the influence at the time of the incident."
The LA Times also reported on the incident, clarifying a few details and updating the ex-football player's situation:
"After meeting resistance, officers used a Taser stun gun to try to subdue Hardy, but it was ineffective, she said. During an ensuing struggle, two police officers received minor injuries before Hardy was handcuffed. Hardy was taken to a hospital and subsequently arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, Reyes said. He was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. The use of force is being reviewed by the LAPD's Force Investigation Division."
What do you think? Is James Hardy the real life Incredible Hulk? Is it bad to be slightly impressed that it took a Taser and God knows how many police officers to take him down? Was he even doing anything wrong before police arrived?
