ABC Nashville star Hayden Panettiere, of Heroes fame, has decided to put her wedding plans on hold, while her boxing boyfriend Wladimir Klitschko's native Ukraine tears itself apart to the delight of Russian autocrat Vladimir Putin. But Hayden and her fiancé haven't given up on the idea of celebrating the happiest day of their lives in Kiev. And if Season 3 gets cancelled like the some suspect it might, Panettiere and Chip Esten, who plays Deacon Claybourne, will have plenty of time to work out all the new cold war wedding logistics.
ABC's music drama Nashville is still in limbo a week before the major networks announce which shows will and won't be returning for another season.
The Music City series' numbers areon the border of being just successful enough not to make it, but once the money making advantages of summer tours and ITunes sells from new content created solely for the series are considered, Nashville might be to profitable to just throw away.
In an interview with CBS Chip Esten, who plays conflicted Deacon Claybourne on the program, opened up about the show's shaky future, as well as the relationship between the show writers and the songwriters:
"It's a hard wait but we're all cautiously optimistic...We know that we've done all we can.
"Everyone on the show brings a whole lot of love and passion and focus. There's nobody cashing a check here. Everybody is deeply invested.
"The best songwriters in Nashville bring us these amazing songs...And some of them are well-known like Lee Brice, who's such a big name in music right now.
"I haven't gotten a song on the show yet. I've been a songwriter for a long time now, and oddly country was my genre."
Despite the very palpable and public tension created by the uncertainty of not knowing if you are going to be out of work in a week, Hayden Panettiere swears that her wedding delay has everything to do with international politics--and nothing to do with network politicking (via US Weekly):
"Everything that's happening in Ukraine definitely put a hold on things. But we have time."
Well if things don't work out with the show, at least, Hayden and rest of the cast could have a new career touring and singing.
Hopefully Hayden can perform "Back in the USSR" with a country band.
