SPOILER ALERT: It has been one roller coaster year for the cast and crew of Glee. Last fall Cory Monteith died of a heroin overdose, changing the course of the entire series. Now there is just one new episode before the season finale. This week’s Peter Pan themed episode was written by Chris Colfer who plays Kurt on the series, and features Madonna's “Lucky Star.”
The official plot preview for tonight’s all new episode, titled "Old Dog New Tricks," reads:
“Rachel hires Santana as her publicist and creates a charity for rescue animals in an effort to fix her damaged reputation. Elsewhere, Kurt stars as the title character in a production of ‘Peter Pan.’ Series star Chris Colfer wrote the episode.”
Chris Colfer recently opened to Billboard about writing tonight’s all new episode, and the inclusion of Madonna’s “Lucky Star:”
“When we do ‘Lucky Star,’ it’s because Kurt has joined an assisted living home’s production of Peter Pan. In the story, he convinces them to update the production. He convinces them to use modern music to tell the story. So when he’s singing 'Lucky Star' he’s singing about Neverland. The only thought I had was I wanted the music to fit. I didn’t want anything to seem arbitrary. I wanted it to be there for a reason...It definitely is one of my favorites. I’m a big Madonna fan. It was a win-win. I was really happy with June [Squibb] and my version. I convinced her if the song is successful we could go on the road together.”
Next week is the big Season 5 finale.The official plot synopsis for next week’s new episode, titled "The Untitled Rachel Berry Project,"reads:
“Rachel meets an eccentric TV writer in the Season 5 finale. Meanwhile, Sam and Mercedes move forward in their careers; and Blaine performs with June Dolloway at NYADA.”
Glee is all new tonight at 8:00 p.m. on Fox.
