After V. Stiviano Scandal: Magic Johnson, Oprah Winfrey to Buy L.A. Clippers? [RUMORS]

Word has it that Oprah Winfrey, along with music mogul David Geffen and software heavyweight Larry Ellison are interested in buying the L.A. Clippers. With racist owner Donald Sterling being forced out of the NBA, rumors are flying that they want to make a strong bid for the formidable team. However, Magic Johnson might have something to say about that.

While stories have circulated all week about a plethora of hopefuls, some leaders are emerging at the head of the pack. Perhaps the strongest contender at this point is the Queen Bee herself, Ms. Oprah Winfrey- flanked by Geffen and Ellison (via Huffington Post):

"Oprah could become an owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, ESPN reported on Wednesday."

CBS News soon tweeted that it had confirmed the news.

Oprah already has her own line of tea, her own magazine, her own cable network, and her own Presidential Medal of Freedom, but there's clearly room for more stuff in her collection."

The other possible front-runner looks to be the legendary Magic Johnson via (LA Times):

"Magic Johnson would be interested in purchasing the Clippers, with financial backing from Guggenheim Partners, if they were put up for sale, according to a person familiar with the situation."

Either direction would be a boon for the Clippers, who have a talented roster of players and a superb head coach in Doc Rivers. The thing they have always lacked is the thing that their counterparts the Lakers have always seemed to have innately: star power. A strong black owner with influence, power and money could catapult the capable yet undistinguished organization into the elite group of teams that seem to find themselves at the playoffs year after year.

What do you think? Should Oprah get her very own BASKETBALL TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAM?! Or do the Clippers need someone like Magic who knows the game and understands the landscape of professional basketball?
