After Last Fight, George Foreman Grills and Warns Bernard Hopkins, Feud?

Is a beef brewing between former 2-time Heavyweight Champion George Foreman and current Light-Heavyweight Champ Bernard Hopkins? Not likely. But the infomercial grillmaster did have some advice for B-Hop: quit while you're ahead! After Hopkins' last fight with Beibut Shumenov back in April Foreman warned him to get out while he's still young. So there's no feud for now, but we'll see if things heat up in the coming weeks.

TMZ is reporting that after Hopkins's most recent title defense against Beibut Shumenov, retired boxer and current grill shill George Foreman called in to the gossip site to express his opinion that the IBF Light Heavyweight Champ should retire before getting seriously hurt or embarrassed. Hopkins politely disagreed:

"I think he was saying it in a caring way," Hopkins says ... "but you watch the fight and say 'What the hell is George talking about? ... The average 40-year-old is not in the shape I'm in. I'm beating guys that I could be their father."

It could be that Foreman's warning came out of jealousy. After all, Hopkins did break his record by becoming the oldest boxer to win a title at age 46. And now, B-Hop is just rubbing it in, defending the belt at age 49.

Of course Foreman was whistling a different tune 3 years ago. In an article in The L.A. Times in 2011, Foreman was much more encouraging:

"Hopkins is defending his title just five months after winning it, and Foreman likes that. 'I think he can box till he's 60,' Foreman said."

So don't expect Foreman to jump back in the ring to settle a score with Hopkins. Maybe the two will design a signature electric grill together.

What do you think? Should George Foreman mind his own business? Do you like the George Foreman grill?
