Jay Leno Supports Gay and Women's Rights After David Letterman Retiring Announcement

Jay Leno, known for his giant chin and theft of all things Howard Stern, is finally taking a stand that matters. The former late night nice guy is defending gay and women's rights, by boycotting a popular Beverly Hill's hotspot. This latest development comes after former rival David Letterman announced that he is retiring in 2015.

It's good to see Jay Leno standing up for noble causes, instead of crouching in a closet to listen in on secret meeting at NBC. As The Hollywood Reporter tells readers, Leno and his wife recently canceled an event at the post Beverly Hills Hotel:

"Organizers of a women's rights event, co-chaired by Jay Leno and his wife, Mavis, have dropped the Beverly Hills Hotel as the location for its Global Women's Rights Awards gala May 5 due to the hotel's ties to the Sultan of Brunei."

In fairness to the Beverly Hills Hotel, the corporation immediately issued a statement proclaiming their views on equality, which differs greatly from its Arabian owners:

"[W]e do not tolerate any form of discrimination of any kind. We are also against any law in any other country around the world that punishes people for their religious beliefs, ethnicity, race or sexual orientation. The laws and policies that govern how we run our hotel have nothing to do with the laws that exist in any other country outside of the United States. We do not tolerate any form of discrimination and strongly value people and cultural diversity amongst our guests and employees."

That's not the only reason that Leno finds himself in the news lately. The alleged funny man will be the emcee of this year's Genesis Prize ceremony, where the $1 million award will be offered to former NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

What do you think about Leno's decision to cancel his event at the hotel? Should the hotel be punished for its owner's absurd religious views?
