2014 ABC ‘Resurrection’ TV Show Spoilers: Omar Epps Finale Bomb; Season 2 Renewed Despite Falling Ratings?

While ABC has yet to announce which 2014 shows are being picked up for another season--even leaving very popular programs like Grey's Anatomy and Scandal in limbo--some industry insiders feel that their new series Resurrection is a shoo-in, despite its ever-falling Neilsen ratings. The show's star Omar Epps and executive producer Aaron Zelman seemed pretty convinced that the knowledge bomb they drop during the finale will be enough to bring the audience back for Season 2.

Ever since its series premiere a few months ago ABC's newest program about small-town folk returning from the dead, Resurrection has been losing ratings from one week to the next, even after serious audience competition Walking Dead retired for the season.

According to the LA Times last week was no different for the program as the series lost even more of its key demographic:

"ABC's Once Upon a Time conjured up a strong night in the ratings Sunday, while Resurrection lost a little more life, according to early numbers from Nielsen.

"Resurrection lost 10% of the rating from its most recent new episode to garner a 1.9, which puts it behind its fairy tale lead-in in 18-49 and marks its lowest number so far."

Nonetheless, Epoch Times reports that that according to its sources Resurrection is pretty much guaranteed to return next year, citing the anticipation of a jump in viewership for tonight's finale.

Omar Epps seems to feel that the whole season thus far has really just been a lead-in to the finale, that is guaranteed to blow your mind (via CBS News):

"I can't give away much, but we've got a hell of a cliffhanger that I think is going to make the audience go back and watch the whole season again," he said. "It's going to make them go back and question everything about the whole first season even after seeing it."

Resurrection executive producer Aaron Zelman expressed similar sentiments, telling ABC the finale is intended to leave people dying to find out more:

"You won't get a definitive answer...But we do drop a bit of a bomb that opens up more questions. There's going to be a surprise."

Find out what happens next when Resurrection airs Sunday night at 9 p.m. on ABC.
