Community star and The Soup host, Joel McHale is on top of the world these days. McHale has received the grand honor of becoming this year’s host of the MC at the annual White House Press Correspondents Dinner. McHale is following in the footsteps of the both Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers. Speaking of Colbert and Meyers, McHale might soon be joining in on their late night game, as Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show replacement, that all depends on if Community gets renewed or canceled.
Tonight, Joel McHale is dining with the President of the United States of America as the host of the White House Press Correspondents Dinner.
Seth Meyers hosted the event back in 2011. The new Late Night host sent out his support of McHale via Twitter, writing:
“Looking forward to @joelmchale at #WHCD tonight. He's going to kill it.”
McHale responded to Meyers’s praise, adding:
“Thank you @sethmeyers. I'm just trying to fill your shoes. It's going to be painful though---I'm a size 13. #WHCD.”
Mchale might be going head to head against Meyers soon. The Soup has been rumored to be up for the job as Craig Ferguson Late Late Show replacement. McHale recently addressed the issue with Howard Stern, telling the King of all Media:
“No one’s called. I don’t think I could even do it with Community. I’m under contract. I don’t think legally I could.”
However, Community has not yet been renewed for a sixth season. McHale did have a lot of good things to say about Furgerson.
“I thought he was so damn good at it. He makes gobs of money, he doesn’t have to do anything anymore. His stand-up [career] is huge. He’s world famous when it comes to his stand-up. He makes way more money than that than it does with his late-night show.”
What do you think? Should Joel McHale replace Craig Ferguson? Would you rather him keep his gig on Community? Let us know in the comments section below?
