It seems the weeks of hype were true; the worst Batman of all time George Clooney and his new girlfriend Amal Aluddin got engaged last Tuesday over a home cooked meal. The pair are reportedly in a real hurry to have their wedding before the summer ends in September, and Amal along with her reported 7-karet engagement ring head back to work. The Monument Men star has already split from his old U.N. peace keeper job, presumably to focus on his upcoming nuptials.
Over a decade after his last divorce, George Clooney has reportedly decided to tie the knot once again--this time to noted London attorney Amal Alamuddin, despite never actually admitting they were dating.
A friend of Clooney's told Page Six that George made the move over a home-cooked meal and couldn't have been more delighted when she said yes (via Us Weekly):
"He was so happy she accepted, he was calling friends with the news later that night.
"It's only four months away, but they want to get married at the end of the summer, in early September, before Amal returns to work."
And lucky for the soon-to-be married couple, both of their families couldn't be happier.
Nick Clooney told Us Weekly that George's clan was overjoyed that Amal is going to be joining the Clooneys for Christmas:
"We have had an opportunity to interact with this wonderful young woman, and these are two great people.
"We are thrilled at their decision and we hope for them the best."
An Alamuddin family member echoed the exact same--but not literal--sentiment according to People Magazine in regards to George (via LA Times):
"They found George very easy to get along with, cool...They felt at ease with him immediately."
George Clooney stepped down from his important job as U.N. presumably to focus on his upcoming marriage, or at least that's what U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric seemed to imply (via Huffington Post):
"After six years in this role, Mr. Clooney feels it is time to retire his official role as Messenger of Peace.
"The competing demands on their time from their professional and advocacy lives sometimes make it difficult for high-profile individuals to carry out a formal United Nations role."
Because riding in airplanes eat with international dignitaries at fancy state dinners can just take so much out of you, and aging George needs all his strength for their wedding night.
