At the tail end of October residents of America's North East Coast had to endure the Hurricane Sandy. The major weather system battered New Jersey and New York leaving business and homes in ruin. The Hurricane cost states tons of money and even now some are with power.
A new storm is brewing in this area now but not tropical in origin a nor'easter is set to lash the coast line. The storm could bring with it very high winds snow and moderate to heavy rainfall.
A long-range notice for this possible disaster was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday. With experts saying on Sunday that winds could be as much as 55 mph.
Though predicted to be not as powerful as Sandy authorities are still wary of the treat the nor'easter can cause to already battered region.
"Prepare for more outages. Stay indoors, stock up again," said weather service meteorologist Joe Pollina.
This new storm has prompted officials in New Jersey to call for evacuation according to weather.com. Mandatory evacuations have been issued for sections of Brick Township in New Jersey residents living low lying waterfront areas are asked to take shelter by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
While in New York City at least four healthcare facilities in the Sandy inflicted area of the Rockaways have been evacuated.
Snow is expected in Winter Storm Athena and the states that could be affected by this cold system are; New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut and New England. Delaware and Maryland according to weather.com are expected to see heavy snow fall.
