Clippers Beat Warriors: Magic Johnson & Floyd Mayweather Talk Buying Team From Racist Sterling?

Sticks and stones might break your bones but words can force you to have to sell your NBA team. That is a lesson that soon-to-be former L.A. Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling had to learn the hard way after (allegedly) making racist remarks to his mistress. The Clippers are now heading into game 6 of the NBA Finals after defeating the Warriors last night. Several high level celebrities and businessmen are reportedly lining up buy the team, including: David Geffen, Magic Johnson and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Donald Sterling has been banned from the NBA for life and may be forced to sell the franchise. The internet has since blew up with speculation as to who might be next owner of the L.A. Clippers. New NBA commissioner Adam Silver named dropped Magic Johnson as a potential owner during a press conference, stating:

"Magic Johnson knows he's always welcome as an owner in this league. He's been a part owner in the past of the Los Angeles Lakers and is always welcome and a close friend of the NBA family."

Johnson himself, praised the new commissioner’s ruling in a series back to back tweets that we compiled below:

“Commissioner Silver showed great leadership in banning LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life...Former and current NBA players are very happy and satisfied with Commissioner Silver's ruling...Now the Clippers players and fans can concentrate on the game tonight against the Warriors with Commissioner Silver's decision.”

Pro boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has openly expressed an interested in buying the team, telling reporters:

"I can't come in here talking about Mayweather only going to get 3% or 4%. I got to get a solid percentage. But do we want to buy the Clippers? Yes we do. We're very, very interested in buying the Clippers."

He went on to add that he wouldn’t dare dream of taking the team out of L.A.:

No, we'll leave the Clippers right where they're at. Actually when I'm not boxing, I'm at the games all the time anyway, because I can walk to the games."

Mayweather even defended Donald Sterling a little, adding:

"I don't have nothing negative to say about the guy. He's always treated me with the utmost respect, he has always invited me to games, always. And he always says, 'Floyd, I want you to sit right next to me and my wife.' "
