Kylie Minogue and Warner Australia Agree to Pay Music Video and Logie Award Dancers Fairly for the Contributions

Is it any surprise that the music industry has again failed to pay the talent in the background? Recently, Kylie Minogue's label, Warner Music Australia, has finally agreed to pay the correct legal rates to the singer's dancers involved in her recent music video and at the Logie Awards.

An announcement came following negotiations between the record company and the union that represents the dancers. An agreement followed after complaints were filed about the dancers being underpaid for their work at the singer's I Was Gonna Cancel shoot on Thursday and the Sunday night Logie Awards.

Actors' Equity Australia director, Sue McCreadie, says the union is confident the dancers will be paid in full by the end of the work week.

Per The Age, Ms. McCreadie said the rates per dancer ranged from $178 to $448 for the video clip and up to $1,156 for the Logies performance.

The production company shooting the clip for Minogue and Warner voiced their dilemma as some professional dancers were asked to work for no money (if you can truly stand to hear that).

The film clip's director, Dimitri Basil, released a statement on Saturday taking responsibility for offering no pay to certain dancers but refused to comment further.

If the little guy couldn't get squashed any more, thus Minogue and the big bad world of the music industry may have to fess up to their lack of compensation. And yet, I'm sure the waters will calm soon.

To wit, here's that Logie performance. See if you agree with the problems at hand.
