Carnegie Hall Cancels More Shows Due to Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy is wreaking havoc on the classical music season at Carnegie Hall as the "Empire State," institution.

It will be nearing a week that Carnegie Hall has not play host to an act. Hurricane Sandy affected the transit and port system of the state and is only going back to normalcy. Power issues have hampered the area as well as flooding.

Carnegie Hall has changed the dates for acts such as Orchestra of St.Lukes, Lang Lang and Friends and Mercedes Cheung joining them Monday will be the likes of (un) common threads: Blurring Genres in the 21st century, as well as Oratorio Society of New York and La Gesse Foundation Series.

Zankel Hall was set to welcome (un) common threads Blurring Genres in the 21st Century on Monday but will now have reschedule for Dec. 17 with the tickets being honored for this date.

Set to perform were Gabriel Kahane singer, pianist and composer, Julian Lage guitarist, singer Aoife O'Donovan and American Contemporary Music Ensemble.

Members of the CUA Symphony Orchestra were set to perform alongside conductor David Searle and violinist Emil Chudnovsky to the tunes of Gorbos, Hadyn, Stravinsky and Ysaye.
