‘Hobbit’ Martin Freeman Talks ‘Sherlock’ Mid-Seasons Special After Series 4 2016 Delay [RUMORS]

Martin Freeman has just made a whole lot fans very happy when he announced that there might be a new Sherlock one off special in between Season 3 and 4. The hit series has been delayed until 2016 partly because of The Hobbit and Fargo star’s busy schedule. However, he is hoping to take a little bit time away from Middle Earth in the near future.

Recently Sherlock’s producer and writer, Steven Moffat, talked to IGN about when to expect Series 4:

"I have no idea...Sue's working on the schedules right now...If people have to wait two years, they'll have to wait two years.”

However, all hope of seeing Sherlock return before 2016 might not be lost. Martin Freeman recently told Alan Carr about the idea of doing an special between season episode:

"[Co-Creator] Mark Gatiss may beat me up, but there is an idea for this one-off special that’s such a good idea, and as I was listening to it I thought 'we’ve just got to do this'. And I don’t know when we are going to be able to do it, unfortunately...It’s a fantastic, really mouth-watering idea. But I really don’t know when we are going to get to do it."

There is also still the mystery of if Sherlock will return for Season 5. Mark Gatiss also spoke about the issue, at an event by the Royal Television Society, telling reporters:

"The idea of growing older with it would be great. But it is hard to get everyone back together, because they have become extremely famous--except for us."

Recently, Moffat announced that he has a plotline set up for Series 5, as Radio Times reports:

“Rather excitingly, Mark and I, for no particular reason, we just got out of the rain and sat at the top of the [Sherlock] production bus… and we just started plotting out what we could do in the future..And we plotted out the whole of series four and five...So we have got plans--but our plans don’t tend to be ‘Let’s blow up the world or cast the most famous person in the world’ they tend to be ‘What exciting twists and turns can we add to this?’ And I think we’ve got some crackers!..The ideas we had that day, I thought were the best we’ve ever had.”
