Universal's solution to Paul Walker's absence from Fast and Furious 7--besides endless script rewrites--has finally been announce. The company revealed via Facebook update that Paul Walker's brothers Caleb and Cody will be filling in to help the franchise smooth over some of the rougher spots in production. Though the boys will be helping on the movie, doesn't mean they are ready to talk about Paul, whose autopsy ultimately revealed was still alive following the initial impact of the crash. Cody recently remarked that it still doesn't seem real.
Paul Walker's brothers Cody and Caleb have been officially announced by Universal as semi-replacements for their Fast films' star, during the last leg of Fast and Furious 7 production.
In a statement on Facebook the franchise announced that though still grief stricken they plan to move forward with the Walker brothers as one family (via ABC News):
"The Fast & Furious saga is about family. The characters are connected by the bond of family, and it is how all of us who have worked together for more than thirteen years feel about each other.
"Our family experienced an unthinkable shock in November. We had to take time to grieve Paul, the brother we love and lost, and to figure out if we should move on with our film."
"This film is the most important we've ever done together.
"It will allow the character of Brian O'Conner to live on and let us celebrate Paul in his most defining role."
Though Cody is helping replace Paul on the last Fast film, he told Fox News, that brother's death still hardly seems real:
"Right now, a whole lot of time has not gone by yet.
"It still doesn't feel real, because sometimes, working in this industry, making films, he'd be away from his family three, four, six months at a time, you know.
"And my only interaction would be a phone call...So, I know it's going to take a while."
Just as long as the movie comes out on time.
