Hurricane Sandy: Carnegie Hall Schedule Disrupted by Storm

Carnegie Hall announces another day of postponements and cancellations as New York City recovers from the dangerous Hurricane Sandy.

Since the super storm rocked New York and New Jersey the landmark Manhattan venue has been closing its doors.

Saturday, Nov.3 sees four acts scheduled on Carnegie Hall's calendar not set to go. The Belcea Quartet, Canterbury Choral Society, Manhattan Hong Kong Music Festival and Mercedes Cheung will not play on the intended date.

The Beleca Quartet will have their performance moved to Tuesday, Nov.6. The group of violinists Corina Belcea and Axel Schacher, violist Krzysztof Chorzelski and cellist Antoine Lederlin would have been performing the works of Beethoven. Tickets will be honored for the new date.

The Canterbury Choral Society will now play on Jan. 14 and patrons with tickets for the November show will have them honored.

Mahler's "Symphony No.8," was on tap to be performed by a slew of performers that included the likes of Canterbury Choral Society, conductor Charles Dodsley Walker, the Long Island Choral Society with Staff and Cadets from USMA and conductor Meredith E. Baker.

Joining the performance would have been Coro Promusica Mexico, Samuel Pascoe, Elizabeth Keusch, Michelle Trainor, Sharla Nafziger, Barbara Rearick, and Charlotte Daw Paulsen.

Thomas Woodman, Stephen Bryant and the Youth Chorus from schools and churches will also lend their talents to the show.

Cancelled is the Manhattan Hong Kong Festival Chinoiserie Moderne: Beyod Exoticism. There will be no rescheduled date and customers who purchased tickets via credit card will receive an automatic refund while those who made cash payments are asked to contact Carnegie Hall Box Office for a refund.

Another postponed show was that of young violinist Mercedes Cheung her show will now take place on Dec. 28 and tickets are yet again being honored here for the new date.

Cheung was set to perform Paganini 24 Caprices for Solo Violin (Complete Set) for Paganini's 230th Birthday.

According to Carnegie Hall's official website there is no word on the Neighborhood Concert: Andrew Garland and Warren Jones that was also set for Nov. 3.
