This Tuesday David Letterman will come face to face with his 2015 replacement when Stephen Colbert stops by The Late Show. Colbert is not the only big named guest that Letterman has stopping by this week. How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris will take off his wig and heels long enough to talk about his new Broadway show, Hedwig & The Angry Inch.
Jimmy Fallon better have Justin Timberlake stop by and lick something nasty for pocket change if he wants to have an advantage on David Letterman this week. Letterman is bringing in the big guns this week, starting with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night.
The soon-to-be host of The Late Show will stopping by to discuss his upcoming gig with Dave Letterman. CBS has complete faith that the faux-conservative satirist can change the tide in late night. CBS, President and CEO, Les Moonves, praised the funny man during a press statement:
“Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television. David Letterman’s legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today’s announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night.”
That is not all in store for the Late Show this week. Lettermen’s guest This Thursday, April 24, will be none other than Neil Patrick Harris with Sarah Hyland and musical guest Ray LaMontagne.
Now that Harris’s long-running hit CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother is over he is starring in the Broadway debut of John Cameron Mitchell's Hedwig & The Angry Inch.
Harris was one of the many names branded about the rumor mill to replace Letterman, however, he shot down the rumor early telling The New York Observer:
"That hasn't even been a conversation at all. It would be an asinine amount of work."
