Supernatural is back with the first of the final six episode of the season. Don’t worry though, Sam and Dead will back next year. The hit CW series has been renewed for a tenth season. With so many episode under it’s belt, some people are comparing the show to the U.S.’ Doctor Who. One of the show’s writer/producers even got into hot water with fans for even joking about replacing Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.
You can stop banging your heads against the wall, because Supernatural is back from hiatus. The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode, titled “Meta Fiction,” reads:
“Metatron makes contact with Castiel to try and convince Castiel to join him, while Sam and Dean pursue and capture Gadreel.”
Recently Supernatural writer and executive producer Adam Glass got into some hot water for some comments that he made in interview with CBR. Glass made a joke about the show’s longevity that went horribly wrong:
“We thought that we would get another season--we’ve been doing really well. I wasn’t there in the beginning when Eric [Krimple] started the show and Sarah was there and Ben Edlund and all them. I actually got to work with all of them as part of the transitional time, but they talked about how every year they thought they were going to get cancelled. Every year, they thought, ‘This was it.’ And by the way, we’re being told that by network--‘You’re on the bubble’--and now look, here we are, ten seasons later. I joke, ‘Why not become the Doctor Who of America?’ Let’s turn around, take the boys as long as they can and eventually find two other hunters. I don’t know if anybody likes that idea outside of me, but I think it’s the kind of show that speaks to people and can keep going for quite a long time.”
Following the interview, the internet flipped out on Glass. Some Supernatural loyalist defended Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki from the harmless (eventual) replacement joke by blasting Glass. Glass tried to stop the hate storm by tweeting:
“People. Watch the interview. I say I keep JOKING that we should become like Dr.Who. Of course there is no show without bros. #Supernatural.”
However, the storm didn’t stop so Glass washed his hands of the whole conversation and Twitter:
“Guys. I'm done. Can't do this anymore. To much negativity. Everything is taken out of context. Don't need this #Supernatural.”
Supernatural returns tonight at 9:00 p.m. on the CW.
