What a year it has been! The Vampire Diaries spin-off series, The Originals is getting ready to end its very first season. The Final five episodes of the hit CW show start tonight. No need to fret Originals fans, the beloved series has already been renewed another season. That means you will be seeing all your friends again soon, well maybe not all of them. Recently we saw Claire Holt exit the series, now the actress is opening up about the real reason she left the show and her possible return. Meanwhile, pregnant Phoebe Tonkin’s on-screen baby bump is getting ready to pop.
The last five episodes of The Originals Season One begin tonight and Phoebe Tonkin’s character, Haley is getting ready give birth. Tonkin recently spoke to TV Fanitic about Haley’s new life:
“She’s now in her eighth month of pregnancy. She’s gearing up to learn how to be a mother, and I think that’s really terrifying for her.” But that’s not the only thing on Hayley’s mind! She’s also part of a werewolf family with her newfound kinship with Jackson and the other members of the clan she hadn’t known she was a part of...She’s never had a family, and finally, she’s found this family of werewolves that go back generations and she’s so excited and she really wants to lead them because they really haven’t been seeing good times over the last however many years after Marcel kicked them out of New Orleans, out of the French Quarter. So, I’m really excited to see Hayley take on a more leadership role, which is what we saw in the last episode that aired.”
However, with new additions, also comes departures. Tonkin’s real life best friend, Claire Holt recently left the show a few weeks ago. Claire Holt recently spoke to Buzzfeed about why she is leaving the series, shooting down rumors that the writers ran out of story ideas:
“It’s ludicrous. I want to be very clear that they didn’t run out of material, I wasn’t pushed out, I wasn’t fed up with Rebekah, I didn’t quit mid-season, there was no drama, there was no rift between cast members; it really came down to the fact that I completed my initial commitment and made a life choice, not a career choice...This show has been so amazing for my career, and I’ve had such unbelievable material, it was just never my intention to be away from home this long.”
She is hoping to return to the show somewhere down the road:
“I am so glad I was able to do The Originals, and I want to be a part of that family for a long time. I am simply looking at this as a temporary absence.”
The Originals returns tonight at 8:00 p.m. on the CW.
