Sad news for Red Reddington fans, there's no new episode of The Blacklist on tonight. The NBC darkhorse FBI drama is down to the final four episodes of the season, so some fans might be thankful that they get to prolong their enjoyment a little bit longer. For those fans that find it hard to wait, the show will return next week. Meanwhile, James Spader is currently working on his next film, Avengers 2: Age of Ultron. Marvel’s president of production, Kevin Feige, has recently praised Spader’s portrayal of the titular villain. Could the killer robot prove to be a better villain than Tom Hiddleston's Loki?
If the Blacklist blackouts are driving you insane, then you are not alone. With only four episodes left of the hit series, NBC is easing into Blacklist withdrawal by taking another week off.
The Blacklist will return with new episodes, next Monday, April 21. The official plot synopis for the return showing, titled "The Pavlovich Brothers" reads:
“The team targets brothers who specialize in abducting high-profile marks. Meanwhile, Liz patiently investigates the truth about Tom.”
Recently one of the show’s many stars ER vet Parminder Nagra recently spoke to New Zealand publication, Stuff.co.nz, about the appeal of James Spader’s character Red:
"You have to remind yourself that Red is this criminal mastermind who thinks nothing of using blackmail, torture and murder to get what he wants. He's not a good guy, but because it's James Spader playing him, there's something oddly endearing about him. People love him! They forget he's this heinous person!"
Marvel’s Kevin Feige feels the same way about Spader. He recently spoke to Movies.com, where he praised James Spader’s performance in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron:
"Our bad guy is great. I think people are going to very, very excited to see what we're doing with the voice that Joss [Whedon] is bringing to life with James Spader for Ultron. We love Ultron from the comics, and have always loved Ultron, and at no point do we want him to just be a robot. We want him to have an extreme personality and attitude, and James Spader is doing an unbelievable job. Again, for us it's always about subverting expectations. Whenever you think you know what's coming next, we surprise people or deliver it in a slightly unexpected way. And Spader is doing that with Mr. Ultron."
