George Zimmerman Dead Trayvon Martin Painting: Did Acquitted Killer Make $30,000 Off Shooting Victim?

No one has ever accused George Zimmerman of being a stand up guy, a stand his ground guy maybe, but he's far from an upright citizen. However, the acquitted killer may have just reached a new low, that is if you believe the rumor going around that he sold a painting of his 2012 shooting victim, Trayvon Martin, for $30,000. Did Zimmerman really stoop so low as to exploit the dead teen for profit?

George Zimmerman has been accused of some pretty deplorable deeds in the past, but the latest accusation takes the cake. If it wasn’t bad enough that he has been using his newfound celebrity status to sell a few tracings/paintings for big bucks, now the “artist” has been accused of profiting directly off the death of Trayvon Martin by selling a painting of the slain teen for $30,000.

It is hard to believe Zimmerman’s latest crime against human decency, mostly because it is just not true. Liberals steaming with rage over this report will have to find another reason to be outraged. The story was originally reported by a satirical site called News Nerd.

The News Nerd is one of many hoax sites designed to lure in unsuspecting readers with fictitious headlines. The site offers the following disclaimer at the bottom of its home page:

“The stories posted on TheNewsNerd are for entertainment purposes only. The stories may mimic articles found in the headlines, but rest assured they are purely satirical.”

Even George Zimmerman’s own brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr., was offended by the hoax accusation, telling The Washington Post:

“If that were true I would denounce it as repulsive myself. There is no way George would even contemplate disparaging the likeness of Trayvon Martin. Professional digital pot-stirrers are ‘at it again’ and amusing themselves by disrespecting a tragedy. The circulation of these fraudulent images puts George in danger. People who believe the stories are rightfully incensed. It appears that is the objective of the parties behind the fabrication of the false news stories and forged art.”
