Yaron Zilberman brings classical music to the silver screen on Nov. 2 in his latest project entitled "A Late Quartet," a film starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Christopher Walken.
Zilberman looks to convey the life of a stringed quartet playing on the classical circuit. He has casted Walken as "Peter Mitchell," Hoffman as "Robert Gelbart," while Imogen Poots plays "Alexandra Gelbart."
"Juliette Gelbart," will be played by Catherine Keener. Wallace Shawn plays "Gideon Rosen" and Mark Ivanir "Daniel Lerner."
Other cast members consist of Madhur Jaffret as "Dr. Nadir," Liraz Charhi as "Pilar," the part of "Brenda," was given to Megan McQuillan. Annie Sofie von Otter takes on the role of "Miriam" while Nina Lee plays as herself.
Minor roles are given to Marty Krzywonos, Jasmine Hope Bloch, Rebecca Tomas and Cristian Puig.
The production crew involves Zilberman in as both director and screenwriter. Seth Grossman also screen writes. The producers are; Tamar Sela, Mandy Tagger Brockley, Emmanuel Michael, Vanessa Coifman, David Faigenblum and Zilberman himself.
Adi Ezroni, Ted Hartley, Cassandra Kulukundis and Peter Pastorelli are all executive producers and the director of photography is Mr. Fredrick Elmes. John Kasarda is the production designer, John G. Aulisi the costume designer while Angelo Badalamenti is in charge of music. The editor is Yual Shar.
Set in New York the film is based on the Manhattan based Fugue String Quartet. Walken who plays cellist "Peter," and has to deal with his newly diagnosed Parkinson's disease. Walken has to inform his fellow bandmates about his fight with the disease all while having to deal with his rocky marriage with "Juliette," (Catherine Keener) who herself has doubts about their marriage.
The other major conflict arises between Hoffman and Ivanir, with the former taking issue with always taking a backseat to the latter.
