Cancel ‘Nancy Grace:’ WWE Fan Petition After DDP Ultimate Warrior Death Interview [VIDEO]

The world lost a professional wrestling legend this week, when James “The Ultimate Warrior“ Hellwig passed away on April 8. Wrestler, Diamond Dallas Page went on the Nancy Grace Show on HLN, on April 9 to discuss the life of the late WWE legend. However, when Page got on the program, the controversial host brought up allegations of drug and steroid use. Grace also seemingly implied that many other wrestlers also died of steroid abuse, including Owen Hart, who passed away in the ring after a tragic accident. Now wrestling fans have started a petition to CNN to have Nancy Grace’s show canceled.

Former pro wrestler, Diamond Dallas Page, appeared on the Nancy Grace Show last night, in order to talk about the life of wrestling legend, The Ultimate Warrior. After a very brief introduction, Nancy quickly brought up the subject of drugs and steroids. Grace threw up a graphic titled “wrestlers who died young,” and then without pause, started talking about the effects of steroids.

Where the graphic only made mention of wrestlers who died young, the context in which it was presented certainly implied that steroid use was involved in their deaths. However, this was not true for a number of the names on the list, including, Owen Hart.

Hart tragically fell to his death in 1999 while being lowered the ring via a harness. A malfunction with harness’ quick release feature caused the horrible accident.

After the interview, Page took to Twitter to clear up his involvement in the interview, writing:

“I went on Nancy Grace last night expecting to discuss Warrior the man. Had I known the only topic discussed would be steroids I would not have participated. At the time I was also unaware of the list that was shown to the viewing audience. To imply that all of the wrestlers on that list died from steroids was wrong and for that they owe the families an apology. Again, my only intention was to discuss Warrior the man and share some stories about how dedicated he was to the wrestling business. I am saddened that was not what happened and my thoughts remain with his family.”

One Change.org user, AJ Keller, has started a petion to have Nancy Grace’s show canceled. The petition, directed towards HLN parent company, CNN, reads:

“Nancy Grace has for years skewed information and misinformed the public. Most recently with her statements and graphics incorrectly listing pro wrestlers who have died from drugs or steroids. The list she presented had several wrestlers who died in another form or fashion. She has also said many, many hurtful, misinformed things that have offended a large portion of the public and private sector alike. This petition is a call to action for CNN to remove this creighton from the airwaves so she can no longer pollute them with her horrible, one sided, skewed, misinformed ‘reporting’.”
At the time of the report the petition had already received 3,272 signatures with only, needed.

We spoke with the voice of the C4W pro wrestling organization, C.J. Awesome in Myrtle Beach SC, about his take on the Nancy Grace controversy:

“I personally think she was very classless with her remarks. She showed she was looking for shock value for ratings by bashing a dead man that was not even cold and in the ground yet. Her so called moral stances that she professes during her shows showed she lacked class and was tasteless to say the least as this man was not just a former wrestler...He was a husband and loving father that all three just lost in a blink of an eye. If she was looking for shock value again, as it is easy to attack someone dead..she should have waited to do her shock value story. The family deserved prayer and thoughts, not attacks.”

What do you think about the latest Nancy Grace controversy? Do you think her show should be canceled? Let us know your thoughts on the subject. Don’t forget it is not too late to sign the petition yourself.
