Well it didn’t take long for Game of Thrones to be renewed. After only one episode of Season 4, the show has already been renewed for two more seasons. There has even been talk about a Game of Thrones movie. However, not all your favorite characters are going to live as long as the show. If characters dying by dozens was not bad enough, some actors have left the show living and breathing. Actor Ed Skrein has been replaced as Daario Naharis, after he decided to leave the show to star in the new Transporter film.
George. R.R. Martin better hurry up and finish those new Game of Thrones books, because the show has just been picked up for an additional two seasons.
Sunday night the show brought in a whopping 6.6 million viewers, and has jumped up to 8.2, as of Tuesday. Considering that the show is part of a premium service and that it was up against Wrestlemania and ACM Awards, those numbers are extra impressive.
The two season renewal shouldn’t surprise anyone considering that is one of the most talked about shows on TV. It’s likely to run the entirety of the books. However, George R.R. Martin has even bigger plans for the series. During the Season 4 premiere, Martin spoke with reporters about a possible Game of Thrones movie:
“It all depends on how long the main series runs. Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know?”
