Former England international John Terry has decided not to appeal his FA racism charge given to him for racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.
Terry was given a four match ban and fined $356,000 for aiming the words f*****g black c***," towards Ferdinand this according to CNN.In a statement Terry said. "After careful consideration, I have decided not to appeal against the FA judgment," after which he went on to say.
"I want to take this opportunity to apologize to everyone for the language I used in the game against Queens Park Rangers last October. Although I'm disappointed with the FA judgment, I accept that the language I used, regardless of the context, is not acceptable on the football field or indeed in any walk of life."
Apart of the saga was Terry's teammate Ashley Cole who came to the defense of the Chelsea captain. Cole testified at a hearing and afterwards the FA found his testimony "questionable," the statement from the organization resulted in Cole taking to Twitter to air his dissent.
"Hahahahaa, well done #fa I lied did I, #BUNCHOFTW***," Cole said on Twitter.
The England left back was said to be annoyed by the accusation levied against him and according to ESPN an insider in Cole's camp told said.
"It came out as if Ashley had not told the truth in his evidence. This is clearly not the case as far as Ashley is concerned and that prompted his tweet." Cole has since apologized and was given a fine of $145,000 by the FA.
Terry came out and said now that he is looking forward to playing for Chelsea and is grateful to the club as well as his friends and family.
