Jay Leno Talks Fired Dave Letterman Replacement Rumors: End Feud After Jimmy Fallon Take Over

It is a crazy time in late night, and we don’t mean mid afternoon. Late Show host David Letterman recently announced that he was retiring. Rumor has it that Letterman may have been fired for not being able to compete with Jimmy Fallon. The new Tonight Show host is dominating the late night scene. It has even been reported that Letterman was willing to end his long standing feud with Jay Leno in order to take down Fallon. Jay is also one of the top contenders rumored to replace Leno. Now Leno is opening up the whole ordeal.

Jimmy Fallon has changed the face of late night TV. The new Tonight Show host has earned the show its best ratings in over 20 years, leaving CBS Late Show host David Letterman struggling to keep up. It was recently reported that David Letterman was considering bringing Jay Leno on as a guest .The Daily News is reporting on an unnamed source who alleges:

“There’s been quiet talk behind the scenes for months that Dave will have Jay Leno on as a guest. (Letterman’s) producers waited until Fallon debuted (on ‘Tonight’), give him space out of respect, but are now ready to pull out all the stops.”

However, It is looking like that will never happen now that Letterman has announced his retirement.

Recently, Extra caught up with Jay Leno, who joked about his and Letterman’s plans together:

"Oh well you know, he and I [are] gonna do The Sunshine Boys on Broadway, so we're very excited about that,”

When he was asked who he thinks should replace Letterman, Leno claimed, "I don't know a lot of good people out there."
