Warning Spoilers Follow! Quicksilver is pretty fast, but even he can’t be in two places at once….or can he? The Marvel comics character will appear in two different films, for two different studios, played by two different actors. Aaron Taylor-Johnson recently cameo-ed as the captive Quicksilver, alongside his sister the Scarlet Witch, in Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. The pair will reprise their roles in 2015’s Avengers 2: The Age of Ultron. Meanwhile, American Horror Story vet Evan Peters will be playing the character in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. New footage of Peters as Quicksilver has recently popped up, but it is not what you think.
If you saw Captain America 2, then you witnessed a miracle, or more likely the beginning of the “age of miracles.” That is how the new Avengers villain, Baron von Strucker, referred to the twin mutants Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
Kickass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson will be playing the Marvel Studios version of the character. Last year, Johnson spoke to Cinema Blend about the part long before he had even seen a contract:
“There's years--over 50 years--of backstory on him all there to use, and I like doing that. Him and his sister [Scarlet Witch] have been abandoned by their parents and their father, and they grew up in Eastern Europe defending and looking out for themselves and each other. His sister really is his guidance--emotionally she's the one who looks after him, and vice versa. He's very overprotective physically--he doesn't want anyone touching her. He has real anger frustration--I like that. I always thought it'd be quite funny if you saw him eating loads and people asked him why and he'd explain it's because he's burning so much energy all the time. Or ideas that you'd see him come back round--but he's already nipped out and got his lunch somewhere else. He just got bored--his attention span is so f-----g quick”
Meanwhile, Evan Peters will be taking on the role in the upcoming Fox film, X-Men: Days of Future Past. You can check out Peters dressed as Quicksilver in the new Hardee's and Carl's Jr commercial.
