Gay Neil Patrick Harris ‘Hedwig’ Broadway Musical Debut After Jason Segel ‘Les Mis’ Duet [VIDEO]

Gay icon Neil Patrick Harris is no stranger to the world of musical theater. However, the four time Tony Awards host has yet to win a statue of his own. That might change soon. The How I Met Your Mother star is shedding his Barney Stinson suit and donning a pair of high heels in the Broadway debut of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The Great White Way adaptation of John Cameron Mitchell’s Off-Broadway hit is currently in previews and receiving rave reviews. Meanwhile, for those of you who can't make it to New York City anytime soon, you can check out the video of NPH and Jason Segel belting out a duet from Les Mis.

Neil Patrick Harris’ new gig has him putting on some make and turning up the tape deck. Harris is flipping his wig as the titular character in the long awaited Broadway debut of the cult hit musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

The new show, currently in previews, is receiving rave reviews. One preview has reportedly brought in a whopping $144,194 for the new show.

Harris’ theatrical resume includes: Assassins, Cabaret, Sweeney Todd and an all star production of Company, just to name a few. However, Harris has not yet won a Tony Award, although he has won a few Emmy’s for hosting the awards.

Now that his eight-year-run on How I Met Your Mother is over, NPH has his best shot at winning a Tony.

Speaking of How I Met Your Mother, during a cast interview on Inside The Actor’s Studio, Harris and his co-star Jason Segel broke out into a rendition of “The Confrontation” from Les Miserables.
