As ABC new 2014 fantasy TV show Resurrection's ratings continue to free-fall, some wonder if the series won't wind up looking as ridiculous as Omar Epps did wearing a skirt during a recent View visit. The Twitter feud fall-out that Epps' fashion update provoked has only just died down.
When ABC's new Sunday night series, Resurrection, first premiered 5 weeks ago, it was the bell of the ball, drawing the lion's share of the viewers, even over more established competition like AMC's The Walking Dead.
[But] The La Times reported this week that Resurrection has lost almost a tenth of its viewership from just the week before:
"Resurrection, ABC's high-rated freshman drama, drew 8.2 million viewers and a rating of 2.3 among advertiser-desired 18- to 49-year-olds, according to early numbers from Nielsen.
"Compared with last week's episode, Resurrection posted an 8% decline in the key demographic."
It would be one thing, if this was the first week that the new series experienced a dip in ratings, but according to Hitfix, Resurrection has been losing ground ever since day one:
"ABC's Resurrection averaged 8.18 million viewers for second and an hour-winning 2.3 key demo rating.
"Resurrection has gone from 3.6 to a 3.0 to a 2.5 to this in the key demo, while the overall audience has gone from 13.3 million to 10.8 million to 9.22 million to this, so the drops appear to be slowing."
Also starting to slow is, the social media flack Omar Epps garnered by appearing on the View wearing a black skirt over her pants.
Epps tried to shame the Twitterspere into understanding his fashion statement was some sort of historical homage to Africa.
"The uninformed couldn't understand my contemporary ode to Zulu warrior roots. The Massai, Fante, etc. It's tribal, study our history."
But rapper Lord Jamar, who was one of the first to call Epps out, wasn't buying the explination, and let the Twitter world know that he thought Omar was being insincere (via Necole Bitchie):
"So now n----s wanna flip it and bounce it and act like they was doing some AFRICAN sh-t...yeah ok!
"GTFOH If that's what u was doing, @omarepps then u should have verbally stated that when they made u stand up & model for them. Ya'll ain't NEVER talking bout AFRICA."
Well put?
