Apple showcased the new iPad Mini along with their new iMac to the public with San Jose, California the venue and has also confirmed that the new version of the iPad will be set at a starting price of $329 in the United States.
According to Apple the internal storage sizes for the new Apple hardware are 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB with the item coming in two different color combinations that of white and black and will be equipped with wi-fi, 3G and 4G LTE. The device is also said to have a 7.9-inch Retina display.
"The fact I don't need smaller iPad is what has me hesitating on pulling the trigger on one. If it had something totally new for the genre, like a Retina Display, that would push me over the edge." Zdnet.com's James Kendrick.
He also added "The lack of a Retina Display turned the iPad mini from an instant purchase for me into a maybe."
Apple had said that their previous iPad 2 was too expensive for school children with a set price of near $400 but said that the new iPad Mini was marketed to be affordable to school budgets and kids. However many experts still claim that the gadget is still too pricy for schools.
Gizmodo's Brian Barrett said. "Charging so much more for a product that's not clearly so much better is a major step backwards for Apple, especially given its unfamiliar position in the small tablet space."
The new apple product still has its fans and ABC News Joanna Stern said. "From a hardware standpoint, the iPad Mini is the nicest of the smaller tablets out there."
The reception to the product in Asia and in especially Japan has not been what Apple would have hoped it to be according to experts.
