‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 10 Spoilers: Shonda Rimes Referees Isaiah Washington Twitter Feud

It seems that not all the fans of Grey's Anatomy are as happy to see Isaiah Washington return as is Ellen Pompeo, best known as the series' lead Meredith Grey. Once various spoilers revealed that Washington was returning for the finale to in some way facilitate Sandra Oh departure, some members of Twitter started a feud with Isiah, which quickly turned so heated, that show creator Shonda Rimes was forced to step in and referee.

It is no secret that Isaiah Washington will be returning for at least one episode of Grey's Anatomy this season, reportedly serving as some sort of catalyst in the Sandra Oh, aka Christina Yang, finale departure.

It is also no secret that Isaiah was originally dismissed from the series following his allegedly making homophobic remarks to other actors, and some of the folks on Twittispere are clearly not over it.

Ellen Popeo clearly harbors no ill will towards her former co-star, Isiah Washington; she recently posted a photo of the two hugging followed by a very warm and welcoming caption:

"BURKE IS BACK "#itsallgoodinthehood #burkeisback."

Burke is back and looking forward to his scenes, described by Washington as nothing short mind altering (via Wet Paint):

"I had to stop and say, 'OK, now what?'...It's going to blow you away! It's all positive. It's so amazing. It's just beyond."

Unfortunately for Isiah regardless of how beyond the script might be, many fans would rather not see him in it.

Fans have been attacking Washington on Twitter for his comments and behaviors years ago, and Isiah, like always, is acting every bit as nasty right back.

He responded to one fan, be calling them names and trying the shame them and their parents:

"@valy107 You're an idiot, and I'm sure your parents are not aware of the profound ignorance and hate you represent. #Fail"

Eventually Shonda Rimes even weighted in on the Twitter battle, at first backing Washington, for standing up to the A-holes on social media:

"Question: Is he being horrible to actual lovely wonderful FANS?" she asked. "Or is he just being mean to people who are mean to him?"

But when one fan informed Shonda that most of the people that Washington was insulting were minors, she quickly did an about-face:

"@d1sappo1nt WOW! I didn't know that! Thank you. That's really good info to have. I don't know if most of us know that you all are teenagers!"

Wow...maybe Isaiah Washington will be fired, this time, before he even gets in a single scene. Well played Mr. Washington...Well Played.
