The CW has quite the roster of well loved TV shows. A large number of their series have already been renewed for next year. However, a few names were left off the list. The new Lord of the Flies adaptation, The 100, didn’t premiere until the renewal announcement, but things are starting to look up for the dystopian drama. However, things are not looking as good for the modern day, Romeo and Juliet series, Star Crossed. The show’s low ratings makes it a front runner for cancellation.
The CW’s new series The 100 has gotten off to a good start. The network's new modern day Lord of The Flies inspired adaption of the Kass Morgan novel of the same name landed three weeks ago with impressive ratings.
The show claimed the title for best viewed show in the Wednesday night time slot, since 2010. The second episode's ratings remained high, putting the new show on pair with the hit series, The Vampire Diaries.
The show returns tonight at 9:00 for the third episode.
The official plot synopsis for tonight's new episode titled, “Earth Kills,” reads:
“An antibiotic is sought to treat Jasper's wounds. Meanwhile, Bellamy and his crew hunt for food.”
However, it turns that the show, Star Crossed and viewers, are well...star crossed. The show has continued to air dismal ratings all year long. The safe bet is that Star Crossed will get the axe.
As for the shows that have already been picked up, the network president, Mark Pedowitz, recently announced a fist full of returning hits:
"This season we've had great success with our new hit series The Originals paired with Supernatural, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years. The Vampire Diaries is number two in its time period in the young adult demos, and with Arrow continuing to gain among young men, and Reign growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'm very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they'll have more great drama to look forward to next season."
