Channing Tatum has apparently doing more than just getting fat with his new baby and wife Jenna Dewan; somewhere during his "time off' Tatum finished writing the Magic Mike 2 sequel. According to True Blood's Joe Manganiello, Tatum, who is set to win MTV's semi-prestigious Trailblazer Award, has finished the script and signed a director. Now all everybody has to do is show up.
HBO's Joe Manganiello will be returning for the Magic Mike sequel and has spilled the beans a little early on the film's new title.
Being that Joe plays Alcide Herveaux on HBO's vampire hit True Blood, you think he would be a little more sensitive to giving away any spoilers, though he may have wanted the attention that comes with being the first to announce that Magic Mike 2 is officially happening.
Manganiello told the Playlist in an interview, that not only was the movie going to be called Magic Mike XXL, it would be coming together before the end of the year (via Vibe):
"It's going to happen this fall...I think they're going to announce it soon. It's crazy.
"I didn't think that would be my first franchise. I never thought that would ever be the direction of my career. But that said, it's just proof that I don't know best, all the time.
"It was the most fun I've ever had, and I can't wait to get back in and mix it up with those guys."
MTV has announced that Magic Mike creator Channing Tatum will be winning this year's Trailblazer Award, the first male ever to do so.
President of MTV, Stephen Friedman uttered some non-sense about Tatum's range being the reason he won the popularity contest (via MTV):
"Channing Tatum is the quintessential leading man for the MTV audience...He proves that an action hero can have both a quick wit and a large heart."
Yeah...because that was what everyone was talking about after the watched Magic Mike...Channing's wit.
