‘HIMYD’ Cast On ‘HIMYM’ "Disappointing" Finale, Kids Keep Secret for 9 Seasons

Now that How I Met Your Mother has wrapped up it’s nine-year-long run, and the two kids who had to sit and listen to that story for nearly a decade are finally free to talk about it. The young cast members, who filmed their scenes back in 2005, had to keep the secret to the show’s big twist the whole time. Good thing that they didn’t spill the beans sooner, because many of the show’s fans have found the big twist to be “disappointing.” However, the new cast lead for the spin-off series, How I Met Your Dad, Greta Gerwig, was very moved by the finale, although we are pretty sure that she is contractually obligated to love it.

For the past few years now, Bob Saget (sorry, future Ted Mosby) has been telling his children all about how he met their mother. Yet, after nine seasons, the kids never age. Well that is because the kids, Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie, have been living with the (horrible) secret for almost a decade.

Lyndsy Fonseca confirmed this when she responded to a fan inquiry that People magazine brought to her attention:

“@peoplemag @Hopesloop @DavidHenrie We shot ending like 8 or 9 years ago. Watch tonight to see what happens!”

She went on to add:

“Great episode. Incredible series. End of an era. Now, i need new secret ; ) @HIMYM_CBS #HowIMetYourMotherFinalepisode”

Her How I Met Your Mother brother, David Henrie, repsonded:

“.@PixiePaparazzi @LyndsyMFonseca We shot the ending of the show like 9 years ago! Wonder if the writers stuck to what I remember.”

David also went on to add:

“.@peoplemag @rutika09 feels great. After tonight I can finally stop getting harassed by friends/family to tell them whom the mom is!”

However, a lot of fans were disappointed by the show’s big secret, but How I Met Your Dad star, Greta Gerwig was moved to tears. Gerwig opened up to Vulture about the finale of the parent series:

“Oh my god. Of course I saw it. I was weeping. I just spent the last three weeks with Craig and Carter begging them [to tell me something]. They were working on editing while we were working on writing the new show. And I was like, ‘You guys, [don't let her die].’ Every time they started talking, I put my fingers in my ears.”
