The American Ballet Theater adds a new home as it has announced that it will be moving into the The David H. Koch Theater that is part of the Lincoln Center come Oct. 30, 2013.
The ballet company who also has calls the Metropolitan Opera House its place as residence has signed a three year deal that will keep them at the David H. Koch Theater until 2015 this according to the New York Times.
"We are eagerly look forward to performing at the Koch Theater next Fall. The Koch Theater is a wonderful venue for dance and its larger stage will broaden the scope of the repertory that we can perform." said Rachel S. Moore, the company's chief executive officer.
The troupe who presents a spring season at the Met will perform at the Koch Theater in 12 performances that will run from Oct. 30 to Nov. 10, 2013 in their first season.
According to the New York Times the American Ballet Theater will be taking over the spot left by New York City Opera who abandoned the facility in the 2011 season due to financial restraints.
Moore said. "Our engagement is especially meaningful given ABT's history of memorable performances at the venue during the 1960s and 70s.
The American Ballet Theater is currently touring they will be in Barcelona, Spain at the end of October and the New Year will see them in the Chinese cities of Hong Kong and Beijing in February and March respectively.
The American Ballet Theater will be sharing the David H. Koch Theater with the New York City Ballet .
