There is no new episode of the hit CW series The Originals on for April Fool’s Day, however, one of the show’s stars, Phoebe Tonkin, has got an early start on the holiday, and it involves her pregnant baby belly bump. Meanwhile, Claire Holt is not joking around about why she is leaving the series. Holt recently revealed the real reasons behind her upcoming departure.
Ok, so anyone who checks their Facebook or logged into Twitter today has likely seen a post or two where someone who is not pregnant has claimed that they are. It’s a timeless April Fools tradition. However, fans of Phoebe Tonkin had the trick pulled on them a little early, when the actress posted pictures of her Originals character wearing her fake pregnant belly. Despite the fact that this pic is from a flashback in an older episode, Tonkin has still managed to fool a few of her followers.
However, in a matter of more serious business, Claire Holt recently spoke to Buzzfeed about why she is leaving the series, and it is not because the writers ran out of ideas, as previously rumored:
“It’s ludicrous. I want to be very clear that they didn’t run out of material, I wasn’t pushed out, I wasn’t fed up with Rebekah, I didn’t quit mid-season, there was no drama, there was no rift between cast members; it really came down to the fact that I completed my initial commitment and made a life choice, not a career choice...This show has been so amazing for my career, and I’ve had such unbelievable material, it was just never my intention to be away from home this long.”
She is hoping to return to the show somewhere down the road:
“It was a tough choice that I didn’t fully make it right up until the end, because I was enjoying myself so much. But three seasons later, I realized I hadn’t been home to Australia in years, I hadn’t seen my family, and I hadn’t spent time with the people I loved. But I want to make it so clear that this show has such a special place in my heart. I am so glad I was able to do The Originals, and I want to be a part of that family for a long time. I am simply looking at this as a temporary absence.”
