Back in the early 2000s, FX helped change the face of cable TV, with the corrupt cop drama, The Shield. Now, the show’s star, Michael Chiklis, is returning to the network in the new season of American Horror Story: Freak Show. Chiklis will play the father and husband of returning cast members, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates.
FX’s hit anthology series, American Horror Story, is about to get a whole lot freakier and a whole lot better in the new season. At the recent AHS Paleyfest panel, it was revealed that next year’s carnival-themed Freak Show will include Shield star Michael Chiklis.
American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy made the announcement to reporters at the event.
"[This is] somebody who I have loved for many, many years and courted for many, many years and we finally found the right role for him. He's playing [Evan Peters'] father. He will be Kathy Bates' ex-husband. He is an amazing Emmy-winning actor."
Chiklis' himself, chimed in:
"I can't think of a better way to come back to my home network then to join this magnificent cast. It's going to be creepy and we're going to scare you. I'm ready and I'm up for it whatever comes my way."
In addition to Chiklis, Bates, and Peters, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson and the lovely Jessica Lange will also return.
Murphy previously announced a few details about the new season, when he told Entertainment Weekly:
“It’s set in 1950. If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there’s some more clues in that year. It’s a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we’ve done before. Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I’m very excited!”
