Freddie Highmore Talks New Episode of ‘Bates Motel’ After ‘Transformers 4’s’ Nicola Peltz Leaves Show

Tonight the hit A&E series Bates Motel is all new. The show’s star, Freddie Highmore has recently opened up about playing the iconic killer, Norman Bates. Meanwhile, Nicola Peltz may have left the show, but you can see plenty of her in the new Transformers 4: Age of Excitation trailer and posters. The actress will be sharing the screen with Mark Wahlberg and the Autobots in the upcoming new movie.

Freddie Highmore is a real lady killer, and we don’t just mean on TV. The Bates Motel star doesn’t just look like a young Anthony Perkins, he plays the role of Norman Bates perfectly.

Taking on such a well known role is no easy task but Highmore has managed to pull it off. Highmore spoke to Examiner.com about the character:

“I think we kind of feel for Norman at times and so you’re sympathizing with some you know is going to become an infamous serial killer. And kind of that challenges us to think if I had had that upbringing, if I had been brought up not necessarily in the world of ‘Psycho’ or ‘Bates Motel’ but generally a different upbringing, if you had parents who treated you in a certain way, would you be slightly different? Is it necessarily Norman’s fault?”

Meanwhile, one of the show’s other star’s, Nicola Peltz, has left the series (temporarily, we hope), but she can be seen in the upcoming film, Transformers 4: Age of Excitation.

However, this is not your same old Transformers. Director Michael Bay told Yahoo Movies UK about the new tone:

“I wanted the first Transformers to be very suburban and less cool. This is a much more cinematic one. I focused on keeping this one slick. There won’t be any goofiness in this one. We went a bit too goofy [on the last one]. This movie lives in the history of the Transformers movies, and this one starts three years after the last. It feels fresh.”

Bates Motel airs tonight at 10 p.m. on A&E, Transformers 4 hits theaters June 27.
