‘12 Years’ Lupita Nyongo NOT Dating Jeto; Engaged to Boyfriend Rapper K’naan?

Lupita Nyong'o known almost exclusively for her Oscar winning performance in Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave, reportedly wants to get engaged to her boyfriend of six months, rapper K'naan, but her movie star image reps are all against it. They no doubt wish Lupita was still rumored to be dating Hollywood's favorite AIDS patient, Jered Leto.

It isn't always easy for someone like Lupita Myong'o to get the respect she deserves from her own L.A. team, more or less from the Hollywood world at large.

Perhaps that is why Nyong'o's own reps are advising her to distance herself from her new boyfriend rapper K'naan, but their advice is falling on deaf ears.

An insider tells Star that Lupita is prepared to double-down on her Somali-born beau, despite her silver screen dreams:

"She's crazy for him, but she knows how much is at stake.

"Her Hollywood dream is in sight, and she's on the cusp of a great career.

"Her heart says yes, but her brain knows it's too soon."

And Lupita knows how hard it can be to be for a dark-skinned black woman to get a real foot hold in her superficial industry (via NewsOne):

"It's not easy being a dark-skinned woman in this society, and it's not easy being a dark-skinned woman within the beauty industry.

"There are a lot of compromises that I have had to make throughout my adult life in terms of how to manage my aesthetics."

Jamie Broadnax, who has started a petition to make Luptia Marvel's next big-screen Storm, gave voice to Nyong'o's, and actors just like her, struggle to get roles in big-blockbuster movies (via NewsOne):

"One of the things that's sort of the elephant in the room that people don't really want to bring up, but I don't mind bringing it up is that there's just a lot of mainstream roles that seem to be given to Black actresses who are lighter-skinned.

"And this is coming from someone who is light-skinned herself, but it's very frustrating for me to see images of only light-skinned women depicted in roles where clearly it would be better for a darker-skinned actress."

So why don't you people just let poor Lupita marry whomever the hell she wants.
