Aaron Diehl highly acclaimed jazz pianist will be playing on the road as at the close of the year with stops made in New York and his native Columbus Ohio.
Diehl will be in New York City come Nov.1 at Trinity Wall Street along with his band the Aaron Diehl Trio for a 1 p.m. performance. Making up this ensemble will be Aaron Diehl himself, Paul Sikivie on the bass and Lawrence Leathers on the drums and joining the trio will be trombonist Wycliffe Gordon.
What seem to be the last highlighted performances for the pianist, the Lincoln Center in Columbus, Ohio will see Diehl make two appearances at the Gospel Jazz Concert Benefit for Catholic Education. The event will go on from Saturday, Nov. 10 to Sunday, Nov. 11 with the Saturday show kicking off at 8p.m. and the Sunday matinee starting at 2 p.m.
Diehl just came off the back of the back of two big New York performances earlier in the year the first of which was at the Blue Note where he and his trio teamed up with jazz singer Cecile McLorin Salvant on Oct. 21 and Diehl and his crew along with Salvant the following day played at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola.
The Chicago Tribune once described Diehl as "the most promising discovery that Wynton Marsalis has made since Eric Reed," while the New York Times simply called him a "revelation."
Diehl has performed with some well-known acts in the past the list includes the likes of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, The Boston Symphony Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon and Benny Golson to name a few.
The artist has played in in European jazz festivals and has performed in South America as well as Asia. Currently the artists lives in Manhattan and is the resident pianist for the St. Joseph of the Holy Family Church in Harlem.
