The new iMac desktop was revealed by Apple on Tuesday, Oct. 23 along with the new iPad Mini that was touted to be the Apple's classroom friendly device.
According to CNET.com the new iMac has a sleek thin display and is 5mm thick. The Apple device will carry with it Intel's third-generation Core CPUs but will have the same resolution as previous models, with the 27-inch version sporting 2560x1440 pixels while the 21. 5-inch has 1920x1080 pixels.
This latest in installment of the iMac will also have Core i5 and Core i7 chips and according to CNET the hardware will be equipped with Nvidia's most recent graphics chips and is to carry with it 32GB of memory.
A new feature including in the iMac's arsenal is what Apple calls Fusion storage, which combines solid-sate and mechanical hard drives into a single storage volume.
The streamlining of the iMac has been going on for years now and the new versions of it come in at a set price for the 21.5-inch at $1299 and this model will be off loading in November.
According to CNET the default model for the 21.5-inch will have a 2.7GHz Core i5 chip, 8GB of memory, a GeForce GT 640 graphics chip and a 1 TB hard drive.
The wider 27-inch will have a price tag of $1799 and will be available come December. It will have a 2.9 GHz i5 CPU and according to those in the field will have a higher-end Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M graphics chip.
In recent times Apple has released the iPhone 5 and various versions of the ipod.
