Well, the aptly named new Son House Apartments had a stellar ribbon cutting ceremony last Monday.
Located on Joseph Avenue in Rochester, New York, the affordable, one-bedroom dwellings for the homeless are part of a new partnership between Providence Housing and Catholic Family Center.
"Where I come from I was always in the streets; up and down, jumping from home to home. I feel like this place has been a blessing and has given us homeless a second chance at life," Carmen Sanchez, a recovering addict at Son House Apartments, said.
The apartments are named after Eddie James House, Jr.
That is, of course, Son House.
And we all know his story--the famed blues musician whose own career was derailed by addictions, prison sentences and, alas, homelessness.
Good on you, Rochester, for helping those who need it most.
