Final Two Episodes of ‘Once Upon aTime In Wonderland’ Season One and Cancellation Rumors

The first of the final two episodes of ABC’s fairy tale spin-off, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, airs tonight. With the first season coming to an end, it is still unknown if the show will get picked up for a second season or get cancelled.

The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode, titled ”To Catch a Thief,” reads:

“Cora coerces the Knave to hunt down Alice in a flashback. Meanwhile, Jafar has the Knave steal from Alice in the present day; the Jabberwocky tries to break free from Jafar; and Jafar's old partner confronts him.”

Meanwhile, the preview for next week’s season finale, “And They Lived..." reads:

“In the first-season finale, Jafar manipulates others into loving him and calls up an army of dead soldiers. Meanwhile, Alice and the White Rabbit gather their own army to battle Jafar in a final conflict at the Well of Wonders.”

However, it is not known if the show will live on for another season. The spin-off has been under performing most of the season. The show is not doing so well on Thursday nights. It was originally scheduled to be a midseason replacement for the parent show, Once Upon a Time.

Recently during the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Paul Lee, ABC’s entertainment president, openly regretted not keeping that plan in motion:

“I should’ve done that. In retrospect, I think it would’ve done better there and I should’ve stuck with the earlier idea. I totally take responsibility for that.”

It has not been confirmed if the show will receive a second season or if it will be canceled, but the best bet is that if it does receive the pickup, it will be moved to the originally purposed Sunday night slot.

Do you think that the show deserves a second chance at a happy ending, or is the book closed on the series? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
