Things just keep getting worse and worse for Trace Adkins. The country star and Celebrity Apprentice winner fell off the wagon earlier in the year, after 12 years of sobriety. After checking himself into rehab for alcohol addiction, Trace’s father passed away. Now Trace and his wife, Rhonda Adkins, are getting a divorce after being married for nearly two decades.
"Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" and "You're Gonna Miss This" singer Trace Adkins is having one rough year. Earlier in the year, Trace fell off the wagon while performing on a cruise ship and got into a drunken fight with a Trace Adkins impersonator.
Following the incident, Adkins, check himself into rehab. A spokesman for the country star then released a statement to Country Weekly, reading:
“Trace has entered a treatment facility after a setback in his battle with alcoholism/ As he faces these issues head-on, we ask that his family’s privacy will be respected."
Unfortunately,Adkins had to leave treatment early when his father passed away. Trace was able to spend some time with his father before his passing. Following his dad’s death, Trace then reportedly went back into treatment.
Things were starting to look better for the singer/actor, who made a surprise appearance at the Opry. Adkins performed with Exile.
Exile’s Sonny LeMaire told Tennessean.com all about the the warm reception Adkins recieved:
“(Adkins) looked like a million bucks. He has lost weight. He’s toned up. He was smiling. Trace Adkins was smiling and grinning from ear to ear. He said he feels great. It was good...(Adkins) walked out and when the audience realized who it was, they went crazy. The audience was standing up, they were applauding and they were yelling. You could tell that Trace was really gratified and humbled. He was happy to be on stage. He was on stage with friends. It was a wonderful thing.”
However, it has now been reported that Trace’s wife of 16-years is seeking a divorce. The couple who have three children are allegedly spliting up for "irreconcilable differences."
