‘Frozen’ Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs Divorce; ‘If/Then’ Broadway Musical Too “Foul Mouthed” for Kids

It's hard to say if Taye Diggs was holding back his multitalented wife these past ten years, but it can't be disputed her career has taken off like a bottle rocket since she's announced they're getting divorced. Menzel feels she proved that the world is ready for a performer to crossover from theater to radio with the success of her Frozen soundtrack. Though she owes her recent wave of fame to a children's hit the admittedly foul mouthed Idina says she's not sure if she really wants to see children in the front row for her brand new Broadway musical If/Then.

Idina Menzel couldn't be happier with her most recent successes; she is the first ever Tony Award winner to have a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, in addition to the reported 3.2 million copies Disney moved of Frozen on its very first day of sale.

Idina told Billboard, she's is hoping that the chart topping singles will add the legitimacy that her struggling recording career has been looking for the past 15 plus years:

"How can you plan these things?...There are so many rules in the record business, and this just breaks them.

"For years, I've tried to pursue a recording career. I've been signed and dropped a million times. People say Broadway actors can't cross over, but it seems society is ready to accept a theater person singing a song on the radio.

"People have often closed doors because they didn't think we were capable of a hit song or some kind of pop-culture moment."

That being said, now that she has this larger audience, she admitted that she isn't always sure what she's going to do with it:

"I'm a 42-year-old woman who likes to talk about sex, and I've got a foul mouth.

"Moms bring their little 6-year-olds to my shows in Elphaba costumes or Elsa costumes, and I have a responsibility.

"Sometimes that's challenging to figure out how to continue to be myself even though there's a little girl in the front row."

Menzel's If/Then show is currently taking a million a week and it hasn't even officially debuted yet; it seems more than probable Idina will figure out a way to keep all the people in the front row happy.
