"Fifty Shades of Grey," is the first in line of erotic novels by author E.L. James. This very popular book was published on June. 20, 2011 by Vintage Books and has become one of the most controversial works of literature on the market.
The publication features the exploits of a 22-year old college student "Anastasia Steele" and her love interest 27- year old "Christian Grey."
This novel has prompted Hollywood to talk of a movie and has even spawned a classical music album.
Author E.L James has personally picked the songs on the album and has entitled it "Fifty Shades of Grey: The Classical Album."
The album features 15 tracks and has the work of Johann Bach, Villa-Lobos, Giuseppe Verdi, Pachelbel, Tallis, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Vaughn Williams, Canteloube, Faure and Debussy with the recordings coming out of EMI Classics.
EMI has credited the E.L. James book for boosting recent classical music sales and says that Peter Phillips & the Tallis Scholars' verision of "Spem in Alium," really took off as a hit and became the 29th biggest selling classical digital song of the year with 11,000 purchases according to Nielsen SoundScan. The song was available since 2006 but the popularity of the book saw a spike in the songs popularity.
E. L. James said about the album. "I am thrilled that the classical pieces that inspired me while I wrote "Fifty Shades," trilogy are being brought together in one collection for all lovers of the books to enjoy.
Currently "Fifty Shades of Grey: The Classical Album", sits fourth on the Billboard charts for classical music.
