It's time for another update from the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie. The latest news stems from an interview Angelina Jolie granted, where she discussed why she didn't direct the film. This latest revelation comes after Charlie Hunnam walked away from the role of Christian Grey.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, a reporter brought up all those rumors that claimed Angelina Jolie would be directing the film adaptation of EL James' popular novels. The question and very concept of doing the film appeared laughable to Jolie, who responded:
"[Laughs, after another long, contemplative pause ... ] I came very clear out of the gate: after Blood and Honey, if I ever directed again, it would have to be a certain kind of film. You know, I'm looking forward to seeing what Sam [Taylor-Johnson] does with 50 Shades and she's amazing. I-I think they're just...it's funny, I think with directing, you just think: I'm better at telling some stories than others but um, who knows?"
Of course, this is the same publication that made a few more revelations about the film last week. Marcia Gay Harden, who play's Christian Grey's mom in the film, dished about Jamie Dornan, who will be playing Christian Grey, and his on-set singing:
"Behind the scenes, he'll jump into an Irish ditty, or he was singing a lot of Rita Ora. He's like [in Irish brogue], 'Oh, you got that in brain now.' We're like, 'Come back to America, because you got a scene in a minute.' 'But it's in my brain!' He's sweet."
This is good news, considering it was rumored that the film was going to cost Rita her relationship to Calvin Harris. One source told The Mirror all about the strain the film placed on Rita's romance:
"It's been tough for both of them but it's been even harder for them to spend time together recently. He's been busy DJing and she's working on her new album and shooting Fifty Shades of Grey. Calvin is more private when it comes to fame than Rita, which also played a part. He'd be happy to meet someone who has nothing to do with the industry."
