Chevrolet has announced that their seventh generation Chevrolet Corvette will making its debut on Jan. 13 the announcement came from General Motors (GM) Chevrolet brand on Thursday.
The news that Chevy will be debuting their new 2014 model on Jan. 13 comes as no accident was the North American International Auto Show is set to get under way a day after Chevy's new unveiling.
As reported by Yahoo.com the new Corvette will go under the name of "C7" and will sport a radically restyled exterior, a more upscale interior than previous models, a lighter chassis and a more efficient engine and transmission.
General Motors has said that the current "C6," Corvette will not be built pass Feb. 2013 and production of the "C7," version will commence in July.
This news of the "C7," series coincides with the Chevy Corvette's anniversary as the car first made an appearance in January of 1953.
Tadge Juechter a chief engineer with the company says that it is "a truly all-new Corvette." The "C7," has been completely redesigned from its elder model the sixth generation "C6," that was launched a few years ago.
To go along with the new body and interior the "C7," will boast a new insignia as Chevy has remodeled the cross-flags symbol that has come to be a trademark of Corvettes in the past.
Upgrades to the new Chevy car are a smaller, lighter aluminum V8 engine, a new seven-speed manual transmission, direction injection , cylinder cutoff and variable valve timing, this according to Yahoo.com.
The machine has faced tough competition from Asian and European brands and has seen dips in sales due to factors such as higher vehicle prices, rising fuel cost and it's once strong fan base in recent years favoring imported vehicles.
The price for the new vehicle is set to be released next summer according to Yahoo.com.
