"Cyrano De Bergerac," the French classic play will be playing at the American Airlines Theater with the next show set to go on Saturday, Oct. 20 it is a work of director Jamie Lloyd and will keep being staged until Nov. 25 and the ticketing is $42 to $137.
Time Out New York said. "The production...is a buoyant, eye-filling delight, benefiting from Jaime Lloyd's vigorous staging and a highly playable translation by Ranjit Bolt..."
While the New York Times said. "Douglas Hodge is inhabiting, enlivening and almost exploding the title character...He doesn't so much take to the stage as the whole theater."
A Roundabout Theater production, "Cyrano De Bergerac," is directed by Jaime Lloyd and stars "Douglas Hodge," as the deformed Frenchman "Cyrano De Bergerac."
Lloyd has also casted Clemence Poesy as "Roxane," Patrick Page as "Comte de Guiche" and Max Baker as "Le Bret."
Bill Buell was casted as "Ragueneau," while "Duenna/Sister Marthe," was awarded to Geraldine Hughes. Kyle Soller will play as "Christian" and Andy Grotelueshen will play the multiple roles of "Montfleury/Pastry Cook/Cadet/Friar."
The production for this play is headed up director Jamie Lloyd and he is joined by Ranjit Bolt the translator. Soutra Gilmour does the set and costume design, Japhy Weideman is the light designer and Amanda Miller the hair and wig designer.
Dan Moses Schreier is the sound designer and is supported by Charlie Rosen who is in charge of music. Chris Bailey deals with movement of the characters and Jacob Grigolia-Rosenbaum is the fight director while Kate Wilson is the dialect coach.
"Cyrano De Bergerac," is a work of Frenchman Edmond Rostand written in 1897. Rostand's main character "Hercule Savinien Cyrano de Bergerac," is a soldier in the French Army and along with that he is a remarkable duelist, poet and musician.
However he stands out not through his talents but by his extremely deformed and bulbous nose. This feature creates self-doubt in the nobleman and inhibits him from expressing his love for his love "Roxanne."
