Tonight the Suicide Squad finally come to Arrow. While we have meet various members of the squad, throughout the show’s two seasons, tonight is the first night the group of criminals-turned-A.R.G.U.S agents come together as a team. The team-up has been compared to the Avengers, might just feature Batman crossover villain, Harley Quinn.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s new episode, reads:
“The Suicide Squad is sent on its first mission, and Diggle agrees to join the team but is shocked to learn that the unit includes Deadshot, Bronze Tiger and Shrapnel, all criminals he and Arrow helped put away. Meanwhile, Oliver prepares to battle Slade, who is out to destroy Oliver's loved one.”
After the first trailer for the episode premiered, fans took notice of a possible easter egg in the background. One of the other incarcerated inmates closely resembled Batman villain and Joker sidekick, Harley Quinn. Quinn also just happens to be a member of the Squad in the comics.
The actress playing the yet to be confirmed Quinn,is Cassidy Alexa.Comic Book Therapy spoke to Alexa’s agent, Webster Talent head Andrew Webster, who responded:
“Cassidy Alexa is getting a lot of heat surrounding her upcoming ‘cameo’ on Arrow. I’m in the dark as to what the producers have planned for her so we’ll have to find out. She’s a very exciting young actress to keep an eye on.
I’m blessed that CW does like to hire my clients. They’ve established a solid presence on the Hollywood North landscape and look to strengthen those ties with new shows, Flash, iZombie and Tribes, which could be a worthy successor to Supernatural.”
Tonights episode has building for a long time. The episode has even been compared to the Marvel team, the Avengers by executive producer Marc Guggenheim said in a promo video:
“The title says it all: The Suicide Squad. It’s our Avengers. We’ve been slowly laying the seeds for this particular episode all throughout the season. All of these characters that we’ve been slowly seeding in, starting from episode three of last season, all of those seeds come together and give birth to the Suicide Squad.”
